What can Ilchester offer you?

Seasonal work at Ilchester Cheese is available to travellers of any nationality (provided they have the correct working permit), being of good health and have a good command of the English language.

Money, Hours and Contracts

The starting rate of pay is £6.06 per hour; plus £6 shift premium per day. Shifts are 6am-4pm or 4pm-2am on a 4 days on 4 days off basis.

Overtime is not guaranteed, but is available and is on a voluntary basis. For weekday overtime (any hours worked over of 40, Monday thru Friday) you will be paid as time (£6.06 p/h) plus 25% (7.57 p/h). For weekend overtime the rate is time (6.06 p/h) plus 60% (9.69 p/h). We pay on a 4- weekly cycle, direct into your U.K. bank account.

Contracts are available from August thru to December. Priority is given to candidates that can stay for the entire period.

Cancellations

If you are offered a position with us and then you subsequently choose not to accept, for whatever reason or your circumstances change and you are unable to attend, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can offer the position to someone else.

Travelling to Ilchester Cheese

*NB Applicants are expected to make their own travel arrangements to Ilchester before commencement of their contract. Berry's and National Express run coaches from London to Ilchester.

Ilchester also advises candidates to ensure they have appropriate travel insurance.

What documentation will you need in order to be eligible to work in the UK?

You must be able to provided one of the following in order to work at Ilchester Cheese:.

  • A document issued by a previous employer, the Inland Revenue, the Benefits Agency, the Contributions
  • Agency or the Employment Service (or their Northern Ireland equivalents) which quotes states the National Insurance number of the person named, . (also you will need to bring a copy of your pass port / national identity card), or
  • A passport describing the holder as a British citizen or as having the right of abode in or an entitlement to readmission to the United Kingdom, or
  • A passport containing a Certificate of Entitlement issued by or on behalf of the Government of the United Kingdom certifying that the holder has the right of abode in the United Kingdom, or
  • A certificate of registration or naturalisation as a British citizen, or
  • A birth certificate issued in the United Kingdom or in the Republic of Ireland, or
  • A passport or national identity card issued by a State which is a party to the European Economic Area
  • Agreement and which describes the holder as a national of the State, or
  • A passport or other travel document endorsed to show that the person named is exempt from immigration control, has indefinite leave to enter, or remain in, the United Kingdom or has no time limit on his or her stay; or a letter issued by the Home Office confirming that the person named has such status, or
  • A United Kingdom residence permit issued to a national of a State which is a party to the European Economic Area Agreement, or
  • A passport or other travel document endorsed to show that the holder has a current right of residence in the United Kingdom as the family member of a named national of a State which is a party to the European Economic Agreement and who is resident in the United Kingdom, or
  • A letter issued by the Immigration and Nationality Directorate of the Home Office indicating that the person named in the letter is a British citizen or has permission to take employment, or
  • A work permit or other approval to take employment issued by Work Permits (UK) or, in Northern Ireland, by the Training and Employment Agency, or
  • A passport describing the holder as a British Dependent Territories citizen and which indicates that the status derives from a connection with Gibraltar.
